Another two

just had phone call from the vets to say if I want two more hogs to say so and they will tell the people who found them to bring them in. I wonder what they would have done if I had said no, anyway boxes are ready and will get them tomorrow.

When you get them maybe you should ask what their would have been if you had said no!

Hope they are not too bad, lets hope they simply need feeding up and nothing else.

Been to pick up the hogs, sadly one died before I got there, the one I have got is nice and round, the vet said she dosnt think the hog as eaten but weighed 430g when it came in. Did manage to get 100 ml of batril of them for taking hog away.

Well I have him/her home now in the warm, looks well, nice and round but I am a little worried, note came with the hog saying weighed when came in 430g they dont think its eaten at 6 pm last night, just weighed now and 24 hours later weighs 325g my scales are right just hope theres are wrong or somebody as wrote it down wrong. It as eaten a teaspoon of food with me.

Lets just hope that they got the figure wrong.
If they have, he may have dropped 5 grams.

Well the little one seems to be doing ok, He had put on a little weight last night, will check again later, seems to be trusting us a bit now, dosn't curl up at the slightest touch, we found out we have another male. Seems to like chicken breast, never mind I still had the chips, will have to ween him off that soon. Later will try to give him his first wormer and antibiotcs.

You are doing an excellent job, Ron. Those Hedgehogs are on their way.

Well he started to lose weight, about 20g last night. didn't eat last night, asleep at the moment, had all kinds of food in his box dont think he touched a bit, will pop to pet shop to day to see if they got any live food, as anybody got any ideas.

try him with the live food and see how he goes. are his poops etc normal? the main thing is to get him to eat something even if its a constant supply of chicken! with some of mine i've found a good food with wilkinsons kitten food,theres about 10-12 sachets in the box and they're chicken and turkey flavour about £3,my newest ones will only eat that! but they are full of vits etc. might be worth a try. was he eating a certain type of food when you first got him? sometimes if you change it they protest! sorry for the rambling, just trying to think of everything i can.

Hmm. I would just try out lots of different foods. Put about 2 or 3 bowls of different food out every night and see what he takes.

The other night he some chicken and I thought this was it throuble over then he wouldn't touch it the next night. Is weight dropped to 299g last night, I put some cooked and raw mince out and some crickets and wax worms out. The cooked mince went and the crickets and wax worms. Put more live food again in bowl this morning and he came out and started to feast on them. He didn't lose any weight last night just hope he likes them again to night.

phew! bless him, at least hes eating something now. they really know how to worry us.

Although hes not eaten alot since I got him last friday, hes still very strong you can't put a syringe into his mouth to feed him. Hes still very round not sunken in at the back end like some of the hog I've had thats been ill.

Lets hope that this is the start to his recovery.

I gave mine a little mashed banana once, it went. Might be worth a try.

well he as stayed the same weight today, which is good as it looks as if he been weeing all day and there is 2 large poops so if theres something coming out there must be something going in

I have had this hog for nearly a week now, he is still alive and very strong despite hardly
eating anything. can't worm him as he is to strong to get mouth open to put it in. He had a feed on insects yesterday evening but dont think he ate anything in the night. There are two good poos in the box. Been told to try him on dead day old chicks, trying to find some one now with a few spare.

Good luck with him Ron. It will be good if he suddenly starts eating. Live foods often work well.
