Bad Weather & Small Birds
Normally birds are OK with the cold and wet weather, but some of the smaller species are really struggling.
The Wren is one of Britain's smallest birds, and because of its size, they lose body heat very quickly.
Wrens will often roost together in nest boxes or holes in trees. Up to 63 have been found together, but half a dozen is more usual. They do this to share their body heat, which will keep them warm.
So don't take your nest boxes down in Winter. They will help small birds to keep warm and sheltered through out the cold months.

Poor birds. I have got 2 or 3 nest boxes up, don't know if anything goes in them though

We have kept our boxes up, I don't think any are in use at the moment though.
