new young carer!

my nine yr old daughter has asked me if she can look after one of the hogs in her room. so after much consideration i've decided she can look after lola,who just pretty much needs feeding up and i will be monitoring her progress. she also wants proper care sheets etc and shes going to keep a diary, shes also going to take it in to school(the diary) so she can educate her class on hogs

That's brilliant, good for her!!

My two sons are 8 and 10, and like to help when they can.

now my teenage son wants one too, he'll have to wait though as harleys still got a couple of ticks!! + he doesn't want a girl
went into her school today and gave them a leaflet,they said they might do a talk in assembly so even better than i hoped.

That is great to hear, all these young people like me getting involved
I first started watching them when I was 4, then when I was 11 or so I started taking them in. Was hard to talk my mum and dad round to letting them into the house, but now they are very supportive. It's great, because I'm going to get a big hutch or cage for the Hedgehogs I take in my Christmas.
It is important that we educate the young people, because we are the next generation, and we need to look after this beautiful world that we can some times take for granted.

as harley died the other day, i let my son have lou-lou in his room and for the first time ever shes eaten cat meat! so obviously likes it better up there and its alot warmer too.
i haven't put lola up in my daughters room yet as i have to move some things around and with being ill i have'nt had the energy.
