1 New Hedgehog

Female 236g found today at dinner time.
She was found in a bad way, had been on the lawn of someone's garden for a while, just lying there. The people picked her up and put her in a box because they knew something was wrong.
I then had a phone call around 1:00pm- I rushed out to collect the female who they described as 'half dead'....And I thought that too, when I got to her.

Well, got her back home and gave her a quick check over. She has a few Ticks, lots of Fleas and some bleeding to her mouth.
Got her off the the Vets and found she had a missing tooth. Don't know how it had gone missing, but it had caused the bleeding.
Fortunately, apart from being a bit weak she was able to come home with me.
The Vets managed to stop the bleeding etc and I have sorted all the rest.

She is now curled up in a box. Has been eating some lots of food, which I have mashed up for her.

Hopefuly she will pull through, although I cannot say due to her condition at this moment.

It sounds like she has a way to go, but I wish you all the very best of luck with, really hope she makes it.

All males? There might be a breeding problem where you are, if they are all males and there are hardly any females- the number might drop? Having said that, your Hog boxes with food in are really good, should keep the population up.

I sure hope that the Hedgehog makes it.

I was very worried about her yesterday, because she dropped a few kg. However, upon weighing her today, I found she had put them back on and gained a bit more! So doing well at the moment!

i've found that i have almost all males in the summer,females in autumn and a mix this time of year? maybe something to do with breeding patterns?! males getting themselves in trouble looking for females in summer, females struggling after litters in autumn and a mix in winter because they are late babes? just one theory
