updates and new one!
hi all, long time no hear
has been busy busy here!!
most of my hogs are getting ready to go and are all rather plump
boris is a big fatty and has been given the run of the hallway and is aloud in the living room in the evening, hes becoming quite a character
lucy- well lucy is lucy! shes still going strong and has had a few near misses but comes back fighting stronger than before. i just need to build her back legs up and i think that'll be more or less job done! her claws are deformed, has anyone any ideas on what i could do??
had a new one come in last week, from a lovely couple, i think she'd been kicked but tried something new with her as she was in a really bad way. she was pulling herself along on her side, head hanging and right eye closed. shes now walking low on her legs some of the time, her eye is slightly open but shes still not 100%, she recognises me as the feeder so is quite keen to get to me when she sees me coming, which is not normal behaviour for a hog.
anyway, i hope you are all well

Re: updates and new one!
Hi Jo, good to hear fromm you again.
It's nice to hear the Hogs are doing well, I think I released one of mine around this time last year.
I hope the Hedgehog you just got has not been a victim of an act of intended cruelty, we know how some people like to kick them around like they are footballs
Good luck with your hogs.
Bethany.

hiya
i think she has been kicked or something similar, if it was a car i would expect a bigger area of injury, if that makes sense and maybe shattered claws. but its seems to be on a concerntrated area.
i fed her earlier, she now moves her head about and tries to get the syringe, but theres no reaction from the right side of her head, so think she is poss blind in that eye. i put her on the bed so i could sort her accomodation out and when i turned around she was slowly making her way across, head still hanging to the right.
will have to see how she goes and maybe if she has to stay wiht me, she can go in with lucy. i think shes an older hog and looks like she was quite a big size.

Re: updates and new one!
Good luck with her Jo, I hope she makes it.
Yes, she could well have an eye injury from being kicked, but this should not ruin her chances of being released (if she is well enough to be).
Well done
Bethany.

Hi, from the sound of it she ought to be x-rayed as she may well have serious injuries such as a fractured skull. Presumably you have taken her to a vet, so an x-ray may already have been done.
Re: updates and new one!
Good to hear Boris and Lucy are doing well.
The new one certainly sounds as though it has a big problem, have you been able to get to the vet with her yet?
