We have had a hedgehog house in the garden for over 12 months, we put some leaves and starw in it and we've also been putting hedgehog and dog food out. In the last few months we have seen hedgehog poo and the other night we actually saw an hedgehog Grin I just love them and was so pleased to see him/her. I also had a peek into hedgehog house yesterday (I know I shouldn't) and there was one in there fast asleep Grin

Questions, do they have more than one nest they use? What time of year do they have their young? How far from the nest do they roam at night? Would they always go back to same nest/s each year or do they keep travelling? How long can hedgehogs live for?

Sorry to ask so many questions - you can probably tell I'm excited Laughing

Lol you are just like me then, I was so excited too and asking so many questions.

1.) Yes, Hedgehog can use many nest sites depending on where they are- they roam so far every night that they sometimes will have to move to a different nest site.

2.) I am very pleased to say that, if the weather is right, some Hedgehogs are ready to breed in April. This breeding season normally lasts to around September, although it's not now unusual for them to go on longer.

3.) They can roam 2-3 km from the nest at night in search of food.

4.) They don't always go back to the same nest sites, as they use a few; but this does not mean you have saw the last of them.

5.) I have seen so many people putting different life spans, so its hard to say. But up to 5 years is repeated alot.

So, there are, I hope, your questions answered Laughing

Keep us updated as to what happens with the Hedgehog(s).
