eye sight?
more questions!!
i bought one of the other babes in from the shed the other day as he was out in the day and was looking underweight. he to doesn't appear to have full sight, maybe its because hes used to me but shining a torch on him theres no reaction, hubby tried it to and no reaction, is there another way to test?
i think the mother might've been injured before she gave birth and this is why the shed babes have probs (theres another that keeps laying on his back, also poss sight probs) i'm going to have to give them all a thorough check when the other two make an appearence.

Re: eye sight?
Hmm, I don't know of any other ways, but it might be worth asking the vet if they can do a test.
A falty gene from the mother/father Hedgehog may have been passed on to the young, or, like you said, she could have been attacked and that caused the problem.
Good luck
Bethany.

Re: eye sight?
This one has stumped me Jo. I agree with Beth though, maybe the vet could help?? I have not yet had one with eye problems, hope I don't get one.
Good luck too.

Re: eye sight?
Does he flinch or anything if you put your hand or other object by his eyes? Should blink if he can see I owuld have thought.
Re: eye sight?
sometimes you can see the blue of his eyes, like he's scared, but doesn't flinch when i wave in front of him, tried to see if he would follow the light and no reaction that i could see. maybe hes just used to me, i don't know

Re: eye sight?
still not sure about his eyesight
i was watching him the other night when he was out and he caught whiff of me, came to the front of the pen, stuck his nose out and let me stroke him. so i opened the pen up to see what he would do and he was sniffing about and plonked himself on my lap, when i picked him up, he had a good old sniff and started licking my neck!
hes eating and drinking fine, so will see how he goes, and poss make a trip to the vets next week with him and lucy.
funny thing, they must recognise each others scent, as after i'd put him back i went to feed lucy and she had a sniffing session, and tried to self annoit. (they're siblings).

Re: eye sight?
He sounds such a sweetheart!!
Hard to say about his sight, maybe make a maze and see if he gets through by touching the sides or moves before touching.
