Re: Poorly One
ron,do you keep notes on yours at every feed, i've found it helps because you can look back and see if theres a pattern.i'm sure with your dedication you have him right soon.
in the evening lucy likes to settle down on me after syringe feed and fall asleep, if i put her back she wanders round until i pick her up again and last night sat on me cleaning herself, i've never seen a hedgehog do that before! up until then i've had to clean her with baby wipes as she was getting so messy.
shes started scratching and has a slight bald patch by her eyes, not sure if its because her skins slightly dry or if she has mites (i can't see any) i was considering bathing her in aveeno oil which is an oatmeal based bath product, but not sure she would appreciate that!
will get some photos of her soon and post up. shes actually the one in my avatar too! although considerably bigger than that now.

Re: Poorly One
Up untill recently no, we didnt keep records of his feeds because he rarely ate. maybe a mouthful here and there never more than a teaspoon, but drank loads so we gave him lactade with some honey in, this is what probally kept him going. As up until now he would never open his mouth now he has at least 10ml of hills a/d and some fluid after every couple of hours. I have checked for ulcers and can't see anything wrong in the mouth. To look at him you wouldnt think there anything wrong. After his feed he climbs all over me sniffing the air, I am just baffled with one. Hes going to work with me this week so I can do the feeds all day.
Re: Poorly One
quick update!
shes slowly getting the hang of things eating wise etc, shes still in the cat carrier as thats where shes most comfortable for the moment! there was discussion as to whether she might have some form of brain damage too and i'm convinced she has! i bathed her earlier and she just lay there practically falling asleep in the water, no complaints even when i put the hairdryer on to dry her. so i guess i will have to see what happens with her, theres not much else i can do for now.

Re: Poorly One
She sounds a bit like one of Derek's old Hedgehogs, Joy. She had brain damage, making her become very tame indeed, like licking his hands and acting very differently from most Hedgehogs. Maybe you could speak to him about it???

Re: Poorly One
shes slowly getting the hang of things!
shes managed to scratch her ear and made it bleed, its the same ear she keeps scratching and i'm wondering if shes got an ear infection, she keeps shaking her head so not sure whether its down to being brain damaged or infection, so will start her on antibiotics incase.
also her claws are quite long, i'm not keen on the the idea of clipping and was debating whether i could file them down
also quilling too, i don't think she could get much more wrong with her, i had to bath her the other night as she keeps laying in her poop etc and she just fell asleep in the water, wasn't even bothered by the hairdryer!
its a long road and sometimes i feel like we're never going to reach the end of it, but will keep going as shes quite dependent on me. hopefully theres light at the end.
