another one!
went on a walk last night and found another small hog, haven't weighed it yet as it looks far to content in its bed so will do when it wakes up.
seems a lively little monkey and has completely trashed its box.
i found it in the same vicinity as katie was found,it looks to be about the same size so maybe one of her siblings that she passed the word onto

Re: another one!
Wow Jo. How many does that make?
You are right, the new one could well be a brother or sister of Katie. Hopefully this one will be ok.
An active Hedgehog is a good thing.
Well done.

Oh Jo, good luck with the new one. It is great to think that Katie may have passed the word on to it.
When you give her a check up, is there anything else wrong with s/he other than its weight?

Re: another one!
it looks fine from looking at it,but will give a thorough check tonight. i didn't want to give it the going over last night as it was a bit stressy.and has polished off every single piece of food i left out for it so at least i haven't got a picky one this time

Re: another one!
That is good news Jo. When a Hedgehog eats, it has a far better chance of being healthy.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: another one!
its a boy!!!! i've named him harley, dont know why just came to me while looking at him!
weighs 450grams and i think hes going to be a pain not bothered at all by my presence just sits there looking at me with his head poking out of the hay and has even nicked one of the food bowls i put in,so he has a back up stash of food in his nest just incase also no obvious signs of illness or ticks etc.

Re: another one!
Brilliant to hear, Jo! He sounds like a right ball of fun!
I normally give mine 2 or 3 days to settle, then give them a thorough check over. With tooth brush in hand I set about un-curling them, a tip I picked up from Derek.
As you know, these are wild animals, so I try to avoid taming them too much. Obviously I give them a check over every other day. I find a routine comes in use. With Boris the blonde I guess this is a little different? Because he will now stay with you.
Good luck with Harley! What a nice name. I try to name mine really unusual names, or sometimes end up naming them the first thing that comes in to my head!
Bethany.

Re: another one!
i think hes stuffed himself silly, theres a few contented noises coming from the box!
i try not to handle them to much,as i know sadly they have to be returned to the cruel outside world
yep, boris is easier to have slightly tamer,as it will mean that when i have to check him over it'll be less stressful and considering hes a BIG ball of spikes, its less painful for me. he'll be in the garden come spring as it'll be warmer for him
also my daughter loves coming up with names and has made me a list,so if anyones stuck for ideas, god knows what you'll end up with though

Boris sounds like a lovely Hedgehog! He is very lucky to have a carer like you.
