Here is some I've been learning at collage:

The sun is a star that is close to us. It is in its own lifecycle. But in 5 billion years time, the sun will expand to such a size that it will engulf all near by planets, that includes ours. This is because it will run out of energy. The sun will then shrink so small, there will be no warmth. The sun will then explode. Life on Earth will no longer exist.
Each star explodes when it reaches the end of its life. The sun is the same.

Feeling depressed? I was when I heard that. The poor people who, if humans still walk this earth in 5 billion years time, have to put up with that! Shocked
