Well done with this little hog, I know its a stressing time when things dont go the way you would like them to go. But keep going and I will keep my fingers crossed for you both.

I have wondered about letting her hibernate, that way she wouldn't aggravate her foot and it would heal. She is over 600g.

The other hedgehog in the shed is not far off 600g, he has already had a go at hibernating but he wasn't heavy enough then so on a heat mat he went and all was fine.

I have stopped using the extra heat at night, only using the background heating in the shed, which is insulated.

What do people think about these 2 hibernating? I would of course ensure food/water available should they want it.

The one with the sore foot: go for it. As long as food is still available, then that is fine.

Nice job!! Yes

Last night I gave them both some kitchen paper - none visable but both hedgehogs have quite tidy, rounded mounds of shredded paper, presumambly the kitchen paper is inside!

I have put their food in as usual, the background heat is still on. If they decide to hibernate I will leave them to it but continue to provide food.

Edie's foot is better, it gets a little bloody if she has a busy night but on the whole it's fine. Grin

She had one night of hibernation, has decided against it now!! Laughing
