Birdwatching
I have just got my self a bird book. Quite a good one, well, it is my first anyway. I thought I would do some bird watching down at the local lake, there are all sorts of birds there at the moment, but I can never tell what they are.
So, picture me with all my gear on, with binoculors in one hand and bird book in the other. I bet I am going to look a site
I will post what species I saw later.
For now, I've got to get ready.

Re: Birdwatching
Hullo Hedgehog!
I'm always birdwatching and wildlife watching, it is such a fantastic way to learn more about animals, especially what they look like and their behaviour.
I have 6 bird books at the moment, once you get started, you just can't stop! I also have lots of field guides as well. All these help to indentify certain wildlife, in your case, birds. I read mine at home, so that when I get out there and watch the wildlife, I don't have to mess around with a book.
It is useful to take a note book and a pen or a pencil, so that you can make notes on what you see. It is also useful to have a note book to write down any details about a bird you may not be able to find in your book.
So, have fun while you are out there!

Re: Birdwatching
I'm off in a minute, but thought I would check this thread first.
What books have you got Bethany and where did you get them from? I think I might get some more myself.
Thanks for telling me about the note book, I have not one so I'll take that along with me.

Re: Birdwatching
Looking forward to hearing about what you see!!
I keep a book in the car, and have others in the house.

Re: Birdwatching
I will post about my books in a bit.
Most are from Borders, the book shop.

Re: Birdwatching
Yeah, thanks.
Well, I saw quiet a few birds. At first I just saw common birds, like blue tits, great tits and greenfinch. Then, when I came to the lake, I saw a mute swan (I think) mallard ducks and some coots. There were some other birds I could not indentify. I was not there long because it started to snow
