So as not to encourage the many local cats I put out dry hedgehog food with plenty of water. Is there anything else I could put out for them? Smile
Thanks

Hi Tiffany.

Hedgehogs will eat a wide range of food, but sometimes can be fussy.

They will eat:

-Non salted peanuts
-Small chopped peices of chopped, miled cheddar cheese
-Sultanas and raisins
-They will also eat left overs from meals.

But, as I'm sure you're aware, no bread or milk.

Bethany.

They will also eat raw eggs - make the start of a crack in a hens eggs and leave for them to finish opening. Yes

My hoggy wont eat hedgehog food. I used to put chicken breast out for him, but cats used to come and pinch it every night if he didnt get there first.

He does like dried mealworms, which you can get from any petshop. Also he likes mashed up banana every night. He has peanuts and raisins too. He will sometimes eat chopped up carrot and cucumber in very small pieces, and dried apricot, but sometimes he will eat them and sometimes he wont, he is a bit fussy.

In my experience they absolutely LOVE dried mealworms (which are essentially beetle larvae). You can buy a 100g tub from Wilkinsons for £2.49, but I find the hogs in my garden can get through 5 to 7 tubs per week.
